Brothers Joshua and Michael Sexton opened this Irish pub on 10 October 2025 in a 1930s house that used to hold Troupial Cafe. The kitchen cooks Irish street food ... fish and chips, bangers and mash, sausage rolls, pasties and a spice bag of fried chicken, fries and vegetables tossed in a curry five-spice mix. There is a smaller room upstairs and a big backyard. The pub says it cooks without seed or vegetable oils.
A River Street dive that advertises the 'Coldest, Cheapest Beer in Town.' It has live music every weekend and an open mic night every Thursday. Connect Savannah readers named it a finalist for best River Street bar in 2022, and the bar's site now carries a Connect Best of Savannah 2026 badge.
A bar inside the Perry Lane Hotel. Visit Savannah says it embraces 'a vibe of punk, glam, garage and rock-and-roll' with 'a rotating menu of experimental drinks'. Travel blogs describe an unmarked door, but neither the hotel nor Visit Savannah says so.
The Wormhole calls itself 'your favorite neighborhood dive and music venue', a casual place 'with an artistic flair and charm.' It says it may host 'a concert of any genre you can think of (metal, swing, country, punk, electronic, flamenco...)', plus stand up comedy and a long-running open mic that Connect Savannah readers voted the city's best in 2022.
A dock bar at the end of Livingston Avenue that Connect Savannah readers voted the city's best outdoor bar in 2022. It takes cards only ('NO CASH ACCEPTED') and rents the whole place out for weddings and private events on a full buyout model with seasonal pricing.
The rooftop bar on the Cotton Sail Hotel. It has two ways in: the hotel lobby at 126 W. Bay Street on the bluff, or an elevator from 125 W. River Street down on the cobblestones. The bar describes itself as 'a Savannah rooftop bar overlooking the Savannah River, with stunning views and breathtaking sunsets.' Seating is first come, first served with no reservations, except for buyouts of 50 or more.
Tortuga's has been family owned in Thunderbolt since 2008, on the Intracoastal Waterway. Its line is 'Southern Fare with a Caribbean Flare'. It serves dinner Wednesday through Saturday, lunch on Thursday and Friday and brunch on weekends, and has a banquet room for private parties.
This is the original Treylor Park, the Bay Street room that grew into a Savannah-born group with Hitch, Double Wide Diner, Pizza Party and Beach Party on Tybee, plus rooms in Florida. The bar top is made from reclaimed bowling lane wood, and there is a beer garden out back ... the site's line is business in the front with the party out back. No reservations. Savannah Magazine readers voted its fries the best in the city in 2026.
Beach Party is the Tybee room of Savannah's Treylor Park group, opened in 2024 in the building that held the Tybee Island Social Club. Cofounder Trey Wilder lived on Tybee for four years and told tybeeisland.com he did not want to lose any of the old club's character. The renovation added a bigger deck, a longer bar, more parking and a walk-up window for people coming off the beach. The patio has a sandpit for kids, and the week includes trivia on Wednesdays and live music.
Tubby's sits on River Drive in Thunderbolt, looking across at the Wilmington River where the shrimp boats dock. The kitchen is known for fried shrimp and fresh catch done grilled, fried, blackened, broiled or steamed. The week has a rhythm of its own: live music Thursday through Sunday, line dancing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5, bingo on Wednesdays at 7. It belongs to Savannah's Live Oak Restaurant Group, which also runs Molly McGuire's on Wilmington Island.
Ukiyo bills itself as an izakaya and ramen bar, and says the name refers to Japanese urban lifestyle and culture. It is part of Anthony Debreceny's Southern Cross Hospitality, the group behind The Collins Quarter, and opened in 2022. It sits a few doors from its younger sister Fishbar. Savannah Magazine readers named it runner-up in the Japanese category in 2026.
Water Witch calls itself 'a tiki oasis in Savannah's Starland District' that 'serves up tiki cocktails with mariner myths and local lore of an ill-fated warship.' It is 21 and over.
The room's line is 'Where Soul Meets Seoul'. It was founded by Tanika Hamilton, who was born in Seoul, and Chef Romie Cummings, who cooks from his Gullah Geechee roots. The name looks back to West Broad Street, the old name of this boulevard: the restaurant says it sits 'on ground that once served as the heartbeat of Black commerce, culture, and community'. The menu runs from KTX Chicken and house dumplings to seared shrimp and grits.
Wexford takes its name from County Wexford, because, the pub says, more than half of Georgia's Irish emigrants in the famine years of the mid-1800s came from that county. The interiors were imported from Ireland. Co-owner Jennifer Strickland took a 10-day eating tour of Ireland to shape the menu, then spent 18 months developing dishes with chefs Jason Cummings and Dustin Hambrick. The pub books live Irish music and a courtyard lineup of local players, and Savannah Magazine readers voted it best pub in 2026.
Wind Rose is a bar and grill on Tybrisa Street, a few doors from the Tybee Pier and Pavilion. The Main Street directory posts it open until 2 a.m. every night. It took part in Tybee Island Restaurant Week in August 2026.
Zunzibar grew out of Zunzi's, the Savannah sandwich counter that lost its York Street lease and moved to Drayton Street. The Drayton address now gives most of its room to Zunzibar, a coastal restaurant and cocktail bar, with Zunzi's takeout and catering running from the same kitchen. The brand has since opened on Tybee Island and in Jupiter and Middleton, Florida, and calls Savannah 'where it started'. The patio welcomes dogs.
Zunzibar is the beach bar arm of Zunzi's, which its site says began more than twenty years ago as a sandwich shop on York Street in downtown Savannah. The Tybee room pours frozen drinks and cocktails and serves the Zunzi's sandwiches, wings and bar bites. Visit Tybee lists outdoor seating for 80 and a military discount. The group now also has rooms in Savannah and Florida.
